Scholarship Overview

The Rose Sarfo Scholarship for Healthcare Students is a $1,000 essay-based scholarship created to support undergraduate students who are committed to pursuing a career in healthcare. This scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate a strong sense of purpose, compassion, and dedication to serving others through healthcare-related professions. Inspired by the leadership and service of Rose Sarfo, Office Manager and Treasurer of Vista Medical Associates, the scholarship reflects the belief that healthcare excellence is built not only by clinicians, but also by individuals who support patients, communities, and healthcare systems with integrity and care. One qualified applicant will be selected annually to receive financial assistance to support their educational journey.

Criteria

To be considered for the Rose Sarfo Scholarship for Healthcare Students, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an accredited college or university
  • Must be pursuing or planning to pursue a career in healthcare, including but not limited to medicine, nursing, allied health, public health, healthcare administration, or related fields
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Must submit an original essay responding to the prompt below
  • Essay must be written in English and reflect the applicant’s own work

Essay Prompt

In 500–700 words, please respond to the following:

“Healthcare is built on compassion, service, and responsibility. How do you envision your future role in healthcare, and how will your education and personal values allow you to make a meaningful impact on patients, communities, or underserved populations?”

Essays will be evaluated based on originality, clarity, insight, and alignment with the values of service and compassion reflected by the Rose Sarfo Scholarship.

One time award of $1,000

Deadline

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is September 15, 2026.

Winner Announced

The winner of the scholarship will be announced on October 15, 2026.
